Points of Interest
Fall-Winter, 2008
Please plan to attend your CU's 47th Annual
meeting of the Membership!
Friday, March 6, 2009 in the City Council Chambers.
Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. Call to Order at 5 p.m.
Interested members wanting to serve on the CU's Board may obtain an
application to serve from the credit union office or from a 2009
Nominating Committee member (Nella McCain, Michele Ritter and Bill
Sutter). The deadline for application is Friday, December 5, 2008. The
Nominating Committee will review the applicants and choose those members
that they feel are best qualified to serve. The list of members chosen
to be on the ballot will be posted at the credit union office on
December 9, 2008. A member may still have their name included on the
ballot by requesting a petition form from the CU and having 45 ICEFCU
members sign it. The deadline for ballots by petition to be submitted
is 5:00 p.m. on February 6, 2009. No nominations will be accepted from
the floor at the annual meeting. Your CU Board of Directors are
volunteers and donate their time and expertise to the credit union
without pay.

Have you signed up for E-mail notifications
of your debit card activity?
With this free service, you receive notice of authorizations and
confirmations of your debit card transactions--usually within a few
minutes of the transaction! Great for early fraud detection and
balancing your checkbook! Stop by the credit union to sign up or fax us
the e-mail address you wish to have the notices sent to.
ATM/Debit Card Tip:
Only your checking account balance is read by the ATM machines. They
do not "see" balances in your savings account. The CU updates/sends
members checking account balances to the ATM network Monday-Friday in
the mornings and evenings to get the most accurate balance info to the
ATM network. Avoid ATM charges by getting your cash at the grocery and
merchants that offer "cash back"! The CU now provides remote ATM service
at City Hall; the Criminal Justice Center; the North Police Station; the
new auto pound building on Valley View and in the new Valley Ranch
Library!
Check 21 is here! Check 21 advancements in check processing mean
less float time for your funds! Checks that previously took days
to clear could now clear in a matter of hours, so we recommend that you
never write a check without having sufficient/collected funds in your
account the cover the payment. Plus, don't write check's off a check you
are depositing until you know for sure that a hold won't be put on the
funds! FYI, the CU does not put holds on City of Irving payroll checks.
Other checks that you deposit may have a hold put on them. On checks
over $500 that are made payable to two or more individuals, each payee
should be present with valid IDs to negotiate the check--even if it is
only for deposit.
The credit union offers overdraft protection from your savings account
and/or line of credit loan to protect you from NSF fees or having a
check returned. Call us for more information or to take advantage of
these services!
Check cashing policy for non members:
We will cash city of Irving payroll and IRS checks for City of Irving
employees
who are not members of the CU. They must have proper ID and there is a
2% fee of the check amount to cash these checks. We cannot accept any
check (from members or non-members) that looks altered in any way. The
only exception is the date. We are not a check cashing facility! We do
not cash checks for non-members that are not City of Irving employees.

Important information about procedures for
opening a new account: To help the government fight the funding of
terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all
financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that
identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you:
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of
birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may
also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
We may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late
payments, missed payments or other defaults on your account may be
reflected in your credit report.
